Well hello! I’d like to present the first of a two part non-recurring series Cars Across Germany: Cars Across Germany That I Saw And Liked Because They’re More Exciting Than A Lot Of Cars In The U.S. Recently I spent some time in Germany and was pretty much excited by every awesome car we don’t have in the States. I just don’t get it. give me your Citroens, your Peugeots, your huddled Skodas and Seats and let them breath free in the U.S.!
Ride with me as I struggle to figure out what these are, and help me in the comments!
Ok before we start, I had a brand-new F150 for the day before I left and it left me just wanting more, more, more. It’s so big and in charge, I loved driving it across the state and got 19mpg with the v8!
Here’s a crazy Mercedes truck at a small biegarten in Berlin
Not that menacing.
That’s a Mclaren 650 I think!
An insane plane tug in Russia
Back to Germany: A Fiat 600 and it’s for sale in Frankfurt!
A Citroen Cactus!!! I’m absolutely in love with this thing to the point that I dreamed about importing it. So cool.
Ummm an Alfa?
A European Geo Metro?
We were flying by these cars, but whatever that is in front is neat.
A VW Scirocco! I stopped all of my friends and told them how unlucky we are not to have this thing. It’s so good looking. Look at those hips!
A Twingo!!
Uhhh?
This Skoda. I’m just in love with it. Please let me have it. Please? Look for the next post with more cars soon and help me figure out what these are in the comments!

Two Alfas. One 147 (silver) and one GT.

Former generation Skoda Fabia. The two-tone paintjob was about the only cool thing about these, as well as the S2000 rally version.

Judging by your name - do you drive one?

nope, just an unfortunate coincidence. I currently drive NB Miata, soon to be getting a GTI.

Oh man. Both very Jalop choices. And a GTI, good move! At least we get the GTI here that sort of looks European (but is probably not even barely similar).

I’ve had the Miata pre-jalop and I loved it but the UK weather is destroying it as a DD so a GTI will be the do it all car.

I feel you on that - I drive a Crossfire which was great in the southern part of the US where there’s no snow, but being in New York makes it a handful in the winter. A more practical car will probably be next, unless I just go crazy and buy an old Corvette (which I want to do about once per week)

It’s so so so bad! Thankful for indoor car washes (and plastic rocker panel covers)
